The Crown News
November 2025
Looking back at summer, which feels like a million years ago (!) we have to thank everyone who came and supported the Ley Hill Music and Beer Festival. It was a magical weekend which our staff and us enjoyed immensely. The bands who came were all amazed at how many people came and supported them.
We have received feedback about the amount of people witnessed bringing along their own food and drink. We are in a difficult position with regards to this as we have no way of cordoning off our front space nor, to be honest, do we want to. We want people to come and enjoy a free open air event. We don’t want to compete with other festivals who charge an entrance fee, but we do therefore rely on people’s goodwill to support the food and drink we offer so that we can keep putting on the event.
As everyone knows the hospitality industry is on it’s knees with rising costs so we really want to keep this event going but we need your help to do this.
The drainage work outside the pub is still ongoing with phase 3 about to commence and Blackwell Hall Lane closing for 3-4 weeks. We are hoping this will not be too impactful on our business and our patrons will still support us.
We were very proud to receive a “5” for our food hygiene inspection by Environmental Health earlier last month. Alongside recognition by the Good Beer Guide 2026 and receiving a Cask Marque cellar “5 “, we feel we have achieved a lot for our village pub in the last year!
With winter upon us and Christmas fast approaching, we are busy getting ready for the festive period. Christmas bookings are steadily coming in so if there is a particular date you have in mind please do give us a call.
On Sunday 14th December we have 2Tone bringing the Christmas vibes at 4pm, a great way to get into the festive spirit.
On Sunday 21st December we have carols by candlelight with readings at 4pm. With the exception of Christmas Day, breakfasts are being served throughout the Christmas period.
Our opening times over the Christmas period are as follows:
Christmas Eve drinks: 11am – 11pm food : 9am - 3pm, 6pm – 8pm
Christmas Day drinks: 12 noon – 2.30pm no food
Boxing Day drinks: 11am – 6pm food : 9am - 3pm no evening service
New Year’s Eve drinks: 11am – 6pm food : 9am – 3pm no evening service
New Year’s Day drinks: 11am – 6pm food : 9am – 3pm no evening service
Next year we are launching our street food business following on from it’s success at the festival. We are hoping to go to local village fetes, festivals, and venues that don’t currently serve food and provide our unique BBQ grain bowls.
May we take this opportunity to thank you again for your continued support.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Sandra and Rob
